Public consultation on copyright reform

The Federal Ministry of Justice and for Consumer Protection (BMJV) is conducting a public consultation on the implementation of the two copyright directives (EU) 2019/790 (DSM-RL) and (EU) 2019/789 (Online-SatCab-RL) of April 17, 2019.

These directives are to be transposed into German law by June 7, 2021. As a first step in this implementation process, the BMJV would like to give interested parties the opportunity to comment comprehensively.

Comments may be sent by September 6, 2019 to the following email address: konsultation-urheberrecht@bmjv.bund.de

However, there are some requirements for consideration:

1. in the comments on the directives, you can both comment on them and propose specific regulatory texts for transposition into German law at
.
2. the comments submitted are generally published on the BMJV’s internet portal. This includes names and other personal data contained in the document. If you do not agree to the publication of personal data, this data must be removed from the document.
4. If you object to the publication of the opinion on the Internet as a whole, the BMJV website will only note that an opinion has been submitted and who wrote it.
5. The BMJV requests that the opinion be submitted in PDF format.
