Esport teams? Freelancer? Minijobber? Attention minimum wage rises!

At the beginning of this year, there was a lot of news in german law. One is raising the minimum wage. Especially smaller software development teams, esports teams, etc. should check whether these regulations apply to them.

The minimum wage rose from EUR 8.84 to EUR 9.19, and next year to EUR 9.35. In a number of other areas, which I do not want to list all of them now, this can be much higher, such as up to EUR 15.20 for half-timberers.

This sum must be taken into account in the pay slips and in the case of declarations to the social security authorities.

It is also important to observe these changes for 450.00 Euro Jobber. Due to the change in wages, these employees have to work less to earn 450.00 euros and this must also be documented by the employer. This also applies, for example, to esports teams that use my player contract for low-wage employees.

This is very important to note, not only for the proper documentation of the minimum wage.

If the employees were working in the old days (according to the documentation), they would be entitled to more than 450 euros from this month and would automatically fall into the normal social security sector. Employees would then have to register from the employer to pension insurance instead of to the mini-job centre and would also have to expect corresponding deductions. Extreme caution must therefore be exercised here.
