One of my guiding principles is…

Key Facts
  • Importance of integrity: Don't bullshit my clients to build trust.
  • Compliance with the hourly rate: Only quote prices that I keep.
  • No pushing into bad contracts: Avoid pointless legal cases to maximize fees.
  • Advise against detrimental actions: Advise clients against decisions that I consider harmful.
  • Fees are not a priority: focus on added value for the client, not on income.
  • Authenticity in work ethics: demonstrates what it means to be a trusted legal advisor.
  • Honesty is the only way: Put integrity and honesty at the center of my advice.

In this video, I share one of my most important guiding principles as a lawyer: I simply don’t take the piss out of my clients. That may sound obvious, but for me it has a deeper meaning.

I explain how I implement this principle in my daily work. When I quote an hourly rate, I stick to it. I don’t talk clients into pointless contracts or futile court proceedings just to increase my fees.

I speak openly about how I sometimes lose clients because I advise them against decisions that I think are disadvantageous. Even if I could earn money from a contract, I advise against it if it would be an unwise business decision.

I emphasize that I do not care about my fees if the client has no added value or it would even be disadvantageous for him. My aim is always to act in the best interests of my clients, even if that means foregoing potential income.

This video gives an authentic insight into my work ethic and my understanding of what it means to be a trusted legal advisor. It shows how I put integrity and honesty at the heart of my advice and why this is the only right way for me to practice my profession.
