Self-employment is a journey that requires courage, determination and vision. This journey began for me 25 years ago, and it has made me what I am today: An experienced consultant who knows the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. This experience enables me to support young entrepreneurs and self-employed people with in-depth knowledge and practical advice. During these years, I have learned that success is not linear. There were times of doubt and uncertainty, when the future seemed uncertain. But it was precisely these moments that taught me how important perseverance and adaptability are. They have shown me that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and improvement. I would like to pass on these insights to help others find and follow their own paths. It’s not just about developing business strategies, but also about cultivating a mindset that allows you to overcome obstacles and seize opportunities. As a mentor and advisor, I stand alongside my clients and partners to guide them on their journey, inspire them and encourage them to pursue their vision with passion and determination.

Key Facts
  • Self-employment requires courage, determination and a clear vision for success.
  • 25 years of experience allows us to provide practical support to young entrepreneurs.
  • Flexibility brings advantages, but also requires discipline and self-motivation.
  • Long-term client relationships are crucial for successful exchanges and customized solutions.
  • The role of consultant combines traditional approaches with modern innovations.
  • Self-employment is a life-affirming experience that leads to personal growth.
  • Working with Saskia brings benefits for work and family.

Flexibility and self-determination: the two sides of the coin

One of the biggest advantages of self-employment is flexibility. The freedom to make your own decisions, shape your own working day and implement your own ideas is priceless. But this freedom does not come without a price. It requires discipline, self-motivation and the ability to constantly face new challenges. Self-determination also means taking responsibility for failures and learning from mistakes. These experiences have taught me how important it is to be resilient and to constantly develop.

This flexibility has also enabled me to create a wonderful professional synergy: My wife Saskia now works with me at the firm. This brings numerous family benefits. We can coordinate our working hours, which helps us to find a better balance between work and family life. This collaboration not only strengthens our professional efficiency, but also promotes our personal relationship as we pursue common goals and share successes.

It also allows us to combine our individual strengths to offer a more comprehensive and versatile service to our clients. Saskia’s joining the firm has also brought new perspectives and ideas, leading to innovative approaches in our work. This family collaboration in self-employment is a living example of how professional flexibility can have a positive influence not only on individual working methods, but also on family life. In my consulting work, I like to share these experiences to show how self-employment can also lead to an enrichment of family life.

The challenges: Customer acquisition and financial uncertainty

A key aspect of self-employment is the constant search for new customers or clients. This requires not only technical expertise, but also networking and marketing skills. The uncertainty of an irregular income can be stressful, but it also teaches the value of financial planning and risk management. These challenges have taught me to be creative and proactive in order to be successful in the long term.

In my practice, I attach great importance to finding clients with whom I can build a long-term and trusting relationship. I find the concept of “acquiring” clients challenging in a profession that is based on trust. I am not just interested in establishing short-term business relationships, but rather in developing a deep understanding of my clients’ needs and goals. This enables me to offer customized solutions that really create added value.

I therefore focus on building relationships based on mutual respect, understanding and trust. This approach may be more time-consuming at first, but it leads to more stable and satisfying professional partnerships. Long-term client relationships allow me to gain a deeper insight into the respective industries and individual challenges, which in turn leads to more effective and efficient advice. In this process, acquisition becomes less of a search and more of a natural building of relationships based on shared values and goals.

The role as a consultant: experience meets innovation*

My 25 years of experience as a self-employed person make me an ideal advisor for the next generation of entrepreneurs. I understand the challenges and opportunities that self-employment brings and can provide valuable insights and practical tips. My approach in consulting is to build a bridge between traditional entrepreneurship and modern, innovative approaches. I firmly believe that the combination of proven methods and new ideas is the key to success in today’s fast-moving business world.

In my advisory work, I attach particular importance to acting not only as a legal advisor, but also as a mentor. I not only share my legal knowledge, but also my personal experience and insights that I have gained in my own career. This includes topics such as corporate management, strategic planning and overcoming growing pains. I see myself as a partner to my clients, supporting them in realizing their visions and developing their companies sustainably.

My experience has shown me that success often lies in the ability to adapt and be open to change. In a world that is constantly changing, it is crucial to remain flexible and not only accept new technologies and trends, but to actively utilize them. I encourage my clients to think outside the box and find innovative solutions that set them apart from the competition. At the same time, I emphasize the importance of solid foundations – be it in legal, financial or organizational aspects – which are essential for any successful company. In this way, I create a balanced mix of tradition and innovation that helps my clients to succeed in today’s dynamic business world.

Conclusion: Self-employment as an enriching life experience

Looking back over the last 25 years, I can say that self-employment has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. It has taught me to be flexible, resilient and innovative. These qualities are invaluable not only in business, but also in the personal sphere. I would choose this path again and again and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation of entrepreneurs. Self-employment is not just a profession, but a way of life that makes it possible to realize dreams and leave a lasting impression on the world.

On this exciting journey, I am always on the lookout for new encounters and inspiring conversations. I have an open ear for fresh ideas, innovative start-ups and the stories behind the people who drive them forward. The exchange with others, getting to know new perspectives and discovering up-and-coming talents not only enriches my professional work, but is also a source of constant personal development.

For all those who are interested in an exchange, I offer the possibility to book an appointment with me via Calendly. Whether it’s discussing a new business idea, sharing experiences or simply having an inspiring conversation – I look forward to meeting new people and exploring new horizons together. Let’s get together and continue to explore and shape the world of self-employment.
