The Greens are getting serious about esports and are putting the topic of esports on the agenda of the Sports Committee on November 28.
A motion from Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (19/5545) has been submitted on this issue. The meeting, chaired by Dagmar Freitag (SPD), will begin at 2 p.m. in meeting room 4.800 of the Paul Löbe House in Berlin and will last three hours.
The meeting will be webcast on a time-delayed basis at www.bundestag.de and on mobile devices beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018.
The Greens want to promote and shape the development of Esports. . Among other things, the parliamentary group calls on the federal government to recognize the volunteer work in clubs offering esports, to anchor esports in the regulations on non-profit status, and to put esports on an equal footing with traditional sports with regard to non-profit status.
At the same time, Germany should become an attractive host country for esport events. The granting of visas for e-sportsmen and women should be facilitated, he said, to ensure that they can travel to e-sports events in Germany and also participate in longer-term league and training operations.
